Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between "Beginner" and "Advanced" lessons?
“Beginner” scooter lessons are for new scooter riders looking to focus on the fundamentals of scooter riding and learn the core tricks that are incorporate in many advanced tricks. Some of the tricks taught in Beginner scooter lessons are Basic Grinding, the Tail Whip, the Manual, Half-Pipe Transitions, and more.
“Advanced” lessons are for experienced scooter riders looking to get ready for competitions and add BANGER tricks to their riding portfolio. Tricks may include Flares, tricks that include Multi-Directional Tail Whips, Bri-Flips, Back Flips, and more.
Where are your lessons taught?
I specifically teach lessons in the North Dallas area, which includes Denton, Little Elm, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, and other cities in-between.
When you book your lessons, you have a choice of Frisco Skate Park, Mckinney Skate Park, or Allen. With advanced (five days or more) bookings, lessons can be taught at other North Dallas parks as well such as Plano or Lewisville.
How long are your lessons?
A typical lesson is one hour. If you would like to book longer lessons, please let me know before booking so I can block off my calendar appropriately. You can contact me HERE.
What ages do you teach?
The ages I teach are 6 to 14.
Do you require certain equipment or gear to take lessons?
Safety is always first when riding.
Riders should always wear a minimum of knee pads and a helmet. During the first lesson, I will go over safety and methods of controlling your fall so you can do your best to avoid getting hurt when fall. (YOU WILL CRASH – A LOT!)
Your scooter doesn’t really matter as long as it’s sturdy and safe. If your scooter seems unstable, we can go through the first lesson and I’ll go over some scooters you may consider purchasing that are affordable. Remember: Safety First. If you’re going to learn, you might as well purchase a reliable scooter that will give you the best shot as staying safe and learning the tricks you want to learn.
Can I book lessons on weekdays? or just the weekend?
During the school year, I don’t typically teach lessons during the week. However, if this is your preferred availability, I occasionally will work in lessons on some weeknights between 7pm and 9pm with some advanced notice.
Keep in mind the parks are busy at this time of night and the focus on the lesson can be a little tough with so many riders, skateboarders, and bike riders at the park. Plus, at night the crowds can be a bit more careless on the courtesy. If we do arrange a lesson at night, I prefer the Allen location.
How do you preferred to be paid?
For prepayment, I prefer Venmo or Paypal. But, if you prefer to pay cash or check at the lesson, that is fine as well.
How do I book lessons?
You can use the Calendly app just above this section of my site, or you can call or text me at (714) 873-5695. Don’t worry, it’s a California number, but I live in North Dallas, TX. NOTE: I do not teach lessons in California.
